Terms of service

The terms for using Trimm

Trimm is an iPhone app for meals, health, groceries and the people you share them with. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use it, including through an agent you connect, such as Claude.

Effective 12 October 2026. Trimm is run by Tyler Elton, an individual in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). Questions: privacy@trimm.uk.

The short version

Who can use Trimm

You must be 13 or over and have your own sign-in with Apple, Google or Facebook. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms with you. Each person in a group, family or household has their own account.

Trimm is in testing

Trimm is offered free of charge while it is tested with a small number of people. Features can change or be removed, data can be lost through a fault, and the service can be unavailable. We keep daily backups, but please do not rely on Trimm as the only record of anything that matters to you. If we decide to close Trimm, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before, so you can ask us for a copy of your data.

Not medical advice

Trimm helps you log food, weight and activity and plan meals. The allowances, targets, portions and nutrition it shows are estimates worked out from what you and others enter, from food databases such as Open Food Facts, and from Apple Health. They can be wrong. Trimm does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Speak to a doctor or registered dietitian before changing how you eat if you are pregnant, have or have had an eating disorder, have diabetes or another medical condition, or are under 18.

Allergies, diets and shopping

Trimm and agents you connect keep allergies, dislikes and diets in mind when they plan meals and choose products, but they work from product descriptions, which can be incomplete or out of date. Always read the label of what you buy and eat. Prices, products and availability come from shops' public pages and from what you or your agent enter, and may not be current. Trimm does not buy anything for you and has no account with any shop.

Your account and your content

Agents you connect

You can connect AI agents, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to read and change your Trimm data within the access you approve. An agent acts on your behalf: what it does in Trimm counts as done by you. Trimm checks and limits what agents send, but cannot guarantee an agent's work, so review what it proposes before you approve it. Your use of an agent is also covered by its provider's own terms. You can narrow an agent's access or disconnect it at any time.

Fair use

Do not:

Trimm limits how much each account and connection can do (requests, records and messages), to keep it working for everyone. If you reach a limit, Trimm says which one.

Suspending or closing accounts

You can delete your account at any time in the app, under You, then Delete account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts Trimm or other people at risk. Where it is safe to, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to put it right.

Our responsibility to you

We provide Trimm with reasonable care and skill. Because it is free and in testing, it is provided as it is, without promises that it will be available, accurate or free of faults, as far as the law allows. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, for business losses, or for decisions you make using Trimm's estimates. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change applies. If you do not agree, you can stop using Trimm and delete your account. The date at the top shows the current version.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. We would always rather hear from you first: email privacy@trimm.uk.
